Medical Care-less?
So recently I had the pleasure of spending several hours at the local hospital because we believed my better half has broken her arm. We went through registration/triage and were sent right into a room. That was great, I figured we would be sitting in the waiting room for hours. Instead we spent all of our time in the little room waiting for simple items like a bag of ice to dull the pain.
"May we have some ice?"
"We will be right with you..."
30min later, still no ice. It took 3 requests to get a simple bag of ice. They were not busy everyone was sitting at the nursing station gossiping instead of treating those who were injured. It took longer and longer as more elderly were coming in because the weather was brutal outside.
Sent for x-rays and had to wait again, more time passes without anything of interest. Doctor comes by eventually and tells us they need more x-rays. Do those, put through more pain then before just to have the doctors say they weren't needed. WTF!?
I believe the medical system needs a serious face lift and doctors need to remember what their job is. You are healers, care givers not walking pay cheques. Quit thinking you are better then the world and remember your Hippocratic Oath.
